I'm glad I yesterday's event at Morehouse College which sought to inform students about opportunities in the appraisal business.  The event was attended by some heavy hitters in the business including Appraisal Foundation President David Bunton, Smedmore Bernard of the Appraisal Institute, Johnnie White of The American Society of Appraisers and Jessica Brown with Cushman & Wakefield.  

Diversity within the appraiser profession has been a hot topic lately, and it was cool to see the speakers talk about their background and careers, and how young people can follow in their footsteps.  It looks like there are many opportunities to be had!

It's more difficult than ever to find a mentor in the residential appraisal business these days.  PAREA (The Appraisal Institute Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal program)  offers a way around the traditional path of working with a mentor but it is not available in Georgia.  At least, not yet.  More info here:
